Indigenous to the West Indian Isles, the starch is extracted from young rhizomes of the plant. The jelly is very tenacious, providing an easily digested, nourishing diet. Use for gravy, puddings or blanc-mange; mix 1 tablespoon into cold paste and slowly stir in 1 pint of boiling fluid, flavour.
A SPICE MIX OF: Fennel, Cinnamon, Aniseed, Cloves, Ginger. This mix has a faint liquorice flavour and is commonly used in Chinese cookery. Add to noodles or brown rice, or use in curries or vegetables.
Sumac is the fruit of a shrub (Rhus Coriaria) that grows throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean. Try substituting in any dish in which you might use fresh lemon juice. Sumac is used in spice rubs, marinades and dressings. Delicious in hummus!
A blend of spices originating in Morroco & also used in North Africa. Used in many savoury dishes, marinades or stirred into Rice. - INGREDIENTS: Cardomom, Ginger, Mace, Black Pepper, Turmeric, Chilli, Fennel, Nutmeg, Allspice Pimento , Cinnamon, Paprika, Cloves, Lavender Flowers and Rose Petals.
